Back again!? 0
Haven’t posted on here for a long time, basically because I haven’t really done anything. Thinking of getting back into web development, but I’ll see.

Recently I’ve become more interested in buying and selling domains. I’ve been reading quite a few articles on the LLLL.COM boom and been inclined to get some of the action. But I am still really undecided as the base is around $30 for a domain, and to sell it on for more than that seems to be wishfull thinking. We’ll see…
I got an PS3 for Christmas and apart from the playing games part it has alot of other features such as a blueray player, music player etc. It also has a nice little web browser, admittedly its not amazing and some sites are shown poorly but it’s pretty good if your site has good clean valid code.
Anyway, I thought I’d try making a post on it and its been just as easy as on a PC.
I was looking through some of my old files and I came across that 12-script-mega-package that was very popular a few months ago. I decided to fire a few up and see what they were all about again. I started to mess around with the url shrinker script and altered the design a little bit. Then I added some PHP to show the amount of the urls there were and some more PHP to show the latest url that was shrunk.
I then decided to find a nice little domain to go with it and make it live. So there we are, a little story about how smllr.net came about.
Its a simply enough concept, you enter your long URL and a custom tag and you get a nice short URL at the end that is easy to pass around with less likely hood of it being altered.
I’ve been dipping my feet into web development, domain selling, site fliping etc over the past 12 months with no amazing success. I’ve had some larger sales that I was quite proud of but I never thought it would ever amount to a lot. But I was just checking through my PayPal account to find that I’ve actually made quite a tidy sum, $650 or £333 to be exact.
Just by seeing them numbers I actually feel more succesful and boosted to carry on working.
Lately I’ve had many ideas, some people may think this is excellent and may wonder why I’m complaining. But the fact of the matter is that most of these ideas are large scale projects that require a lot of funding and knowledge and I simply don’t have either.
I could put my time and efforts into a smaller project but I don’t have and ideas really. Oh well.
Got my blog running again.
Updates soon.
